Welcome to Belmont Community Adult School!


Welcome to our adult school program information. We have partner up with Los Angeles Unified School District Adult School Program to provide you with more opportunity to enhance your education and bring you more class selection that you might not be able to take during you regular high school time. Please visit the left-side links for more information or talk to your counselor for more information.  Don't forget to visit other program by pointing on the programs menu and selecting other programs.

 

We offer variety of classes to high school students with variety of needs.  Getting start is as easy as 1-2-3! 

 

THREE REASONS TO TAKE ADULT SCHOOL CLASSES

 

1)    I need to make up classes to graduate on time,

2)    I need to take extra credits so I can graduate early,

3)    I need to replace the Cs and Ds with better grades to improve my G.P.A. for the college application.

 

THREE CLASS CHOICES

 

1)    Six-week teacher directed classes:  You can earn 5 credits in six weeks by attending for Monday-Friday, 3:30 p.m.– 5:30 p.m. There are two sessions in the fall and spring terms and one in the summer. You can take English 9A/9B, English 10A/10B, Contemporary Composition, American Literature, Expository Composition, Modern Literature, U.S. History A/B, World History A/B, U.S. Government, and Geometry A/B.   For specific courses offered in each term, please call us.

2)    Individual Instruction (I.I.) Lab., Math Lab., and Computer Lab:  Need flexible schedule?  This is for you! You can earn 5 credits by attending two to four times a week (Monday-Thursday, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.) in as few as four weeks and as long as one year.  You can start any time, even in the middle of the semester.  In I.I. Lab., you can take all the non-math courses listed above, and Economics, General Science Integrated 1/2/3/4 (count as Physical and Biological Sciences), Health, and electives (Fine Arts, Psychology, Life Skills, Parent Education, and Reading Comprehension 2). In Math lab., you can take up to Algebra.  All courses are available any time. 

3)    Home Study:  You can earn 5 credits by completing all the assignments at home.  The Adult Independent Study (A.I.S.) program offers all the social studies classes, Health, Parent Education, Life Skills and Psychology.  Parent Education is also available in Distant Learning. 

 

THREE STEPS TO GET STARTED

 

1)    Obtain waiver form:  Ask your counselor if s/he has one for you.  If not come to us at:  Belmont Community Adult School

          Counseling Office

2)    Obtain your counselor’s signature:  Fill out the form and take it to your counselor, who will sign the form for you.

3)    Register for the class:  Take the waiver form to the Adult School Counseling Office and fill out the registration form.  You are ready to get started!  (There will be a reading evaluation for the first time students.)
